Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has launched an electric bus service to improve passenger comfort.

From Tuesday, passengers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport can board an electric bus from Terminal 2 (T2) to South Mumbai and the Bandra-Kurla complex.

“To improve connectivity and convenience for inbound and outbound passengers, @myBESTBus has launched the airport electric bus service. From Tuesday, passengers can use this special shuttle service between CSMIA (T2) and South Mumbai and BKC. More locations will be added soon, ”Maharashtra Environment and Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray announced via Twitter.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister of Environment and Tourism Aaditya Thackeray yesterday announced the launch of 60 electric buses from Mumbai’s Worli Depot.

“Mumbai’s entire current fleet of 386 buses will be powered by renewable energy. All new buses will be electric only, 1,900 buses will be launched and soon 200 double-decker electric buses. By 2023, 50% and, by 2027, we aim to have 100% electric bus fleet for Mumbai, ”he wrote in a tweet.

Thackeray said cities like Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Sambhajinagar and Nagpur will also soon have their own fleet of electric buses and that Maharashtra’s Environment and Climate Change Department is helping them to do so.

Earlier last week, Aaditya Thackeray, speaking at BMC headquarters, said that BEST’s entire fleet will include electric buses by 2028. He added that double-decker buses operated by the BEST will run on electric power or hydrogen. fuel cells, whichever is more efficient.
