Momentum Gains on Southern Maryland Rapid Transit Project
After Maryland’s congressional delegation secures $5 million appropriation to match state commitments to Southern Maryland’s rapid transit project, local leaders plan to build on that political momentum to advance the early stages of the project. Supporters are pushing for the implementation of a light rail system over a bus rapid transit system to connect commuters in Charles, St. Mary’s and Calvert counties to their places of work in DC, Va. DC to reduce speed limit to 25mph on some streets
