Electric shuttles will run between KIA Terminals 1 and 2; BIAL Float Tender
Electric buses will shuttle between KIA Terminals 1 and 2
BIAL has undertaken various steps to deploy on-site renewable energy generation systems and off-site renewable energy supply

Electric shuttles will run here between Terminals 1 and 2 of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). As part of this, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to interested companies.
A BIAL official said the EV shuttle service will be part of the airport’s green practices to decarbonize operations.
BIAL has undertaken various steps to deploy on-site renewable energy generation systems and off-site renewable energy supply. On-site solar installations and power purchase agreements (PPAs) from solar and wind power providers have helped BLR Airport achieve energy neutral status since December 2020, the official said.
KIA, the official said, saved enough energy to power nearly 9,000 homes for a month. The airport had also become water positive, treating and recycling more water than it uses, despite requiring millions of liters of water a day to maintain infrastructure and operations. .
Proposals for the electric bus tender must be submitted by April 25. For more information on the bidding process, interested bidders can write to enmbid4@bialairport.com.
