Dallas Area Rapid Transit expands program that offers 50% off qualified passengers

Dallas Area Rapid Transit has extended its pilot program that allows passengers using certain assistance programs to receive reduced fares through the end of the year.

The GoPass Tap Discount Card offers riders who qualify 50% off the regular price of a DART pass, according to a press release.

All new and current DART riders participating in the Children’s Health Insurance Program; Texas Temporary Assistance for Needy Families; the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program; the supplementary nutritional assistance program; housing choice vouchers; the DHA Housing Solutions for North Texas program; Medicaid; health insurance ; or the Texas Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children are eligible for the discount card, the statement said.

The GoPass Tap Discount Card can be used on any DART bus or train, according to the transit agency‘s website.

DART started the program last year. The transit agency announced the extension of the program until December 31 at the end of March.
