Commissioner seals off Daewoo bus station and forms committee to control traffic on Charsadda Road

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – Aug 2, 2022): Peshawar Division Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud sealed Daweoo Bus Station on Tuesday for operating old and substandard passenger buses.

He also formed a committee to control traffic on Charsadda Road and also asked for recommendations on relocating Charsadda Bus Station to the New General Bus Station.

He issued these guidelines while chairing a meeting as Chairman of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Ehteshamul Haq, RTA Secretary Akbar Iftikhar, Assistant Commissioner Obaid Dogar and all the officials concerned.

The new committee consisting of the RTA Secretary, the Deputy City Commissioner and the Deputy Terminal Manager has been established to oversee the provision of facilities to commuters at public and private bus stops.

The committee would also work on establishing a complaints cell, providing uniforms for all staff, including drivers, to monitor drivers’ blood pressure and sugar levels prior to travel, banning entry of beggars into all passenger bases, installation of passage gates. and heavy-duty security devices at bus stops.

In addition to the above, Commissioner Peshawar has also given instructions to the RTA Secretary to re-set the tariffs based on the reduction in the prices of petroleum products.
