Beep extends prepaid QR ticketing on some buses

FILIPINOS will now experience smoother journeys as bip operator AF Payments Inc. has announced that QR ticket acceptance is going live across four partner bus lines, namely BGC Bus, TAS Trans, Precious Grace Transport Services and San Agustin Transportation.

These cover several areas in the cities of Taguig, Makati and Las Piñas, as well as the provinces of Cavite, Laguna and Bulacan.

beep continues to expand its use of QR technology which it pioneered in the transportation industry. It has partnered with GCash to allow commuters to generate their own prepaid beep QR ticket anytime and anywhere, eliminating the need to queue for tickets on certain routes.

To do this, simply open your GCash app, tap on GLife and select “beep” from the list of partners. Select from four bus operators, then choose your route, as well as departure and destination terminals. Your rate will be automatically calculated. After reviewing the details, tap “Buy Ticket” and make your payment. Click on the ticket history to view your QR ticket or take a screenshot, which you can scan on the reader at the bus station or when entering the bus.

“We are constantly evolving the beep payment solution, not only to keep up with changing technology, but more importantly, to help improve the quality of life of Filipinos. With QR, we allow commuters to recover a fraction of the time they usually spend waiting in line. Our goal is to enable growth and digital transformation in the transport sector to make progress more inclusive and beneficial to more people in the long term,” said Sharon Fong, Chief Commercial Officer of AF Payments Inc.
