A guide to taking the free shuttles between Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports
People living in Abu Dhabi who book flights with Emirates can take a free bus to Dubai International Airport.
The same service is provided by Etihad Airways to its passengers from Dubai.
Here, The National looks at how you can fly to and from airports in both cities for free as the summer holiday season begins.
Traveling with Etihad
People wishing to travel to Abu Dhabi International Airport from Dubai can travel for free on a coach operated by Etihad.
Buses depart from the car park behind the new Safestway supermarket on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, near the Al Wasl Center, and bring travelers directly to Abu Dhabi Airport.
The service was moved from the Al Mazaya center this year. Buses take 75 minutes to complete the one-way journey and all passengers must have a valid ticket.
Buses depart from Dubai at 02:05, 04:10, 06:05, 09:35, 11:30, 16:15, 17:20, 19:05, 20:55 and 22:30, according to the timetable on the Etihad website.
The Etihad Coach from Abu Dhabi Airport to Dubai departs at 12:15am, 1:25am, 3:05am, 7:05am, 8:20am, 10:50am, 2:25pm, 8:25pm, 9:25pm and 10:10pm.
Travelers wishing to take the Etihad coach are advised to reserve their seats at least 24 hours in advance.
Traveling with Emirates

Anyone planning to travel by Emirates coach between Abu Dhabi and Dubai should book at least 48 hours in advance, the airline’s website says.
Passengers must also hold a valid airline ticket with Emirates to board the bus.
The coach picks up passengers outside the Emirates office on Corniche Road in Abu Dhabi at 03:00, 09:45, 16:30 and 22:00.
The bus drops off passengers at arrivals at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport.
Trips from Dubai to Abu Dhabi depart from the same location at 03:00, 10:00, 15:00 and 23:00.
The Emirates website states that the minimum connection time is two hours for inbound and outbound passengers.
